We just celebrated the April litter's 6 month bday! Yay...! With the monsoons, they spend very little time out-of-doors & the majority of their time locked up with us in the house. Thankfully, they love us! We thought it would be fun for Taffy to have some quantity time with her kids...she did not. Such wonderful puppies! We feel blessed! Tomorrow Bleu's litter will be bathed...photos, of course! Foxglove Farms Fiona ("FiFi") is seen in the background on occasion during our slideshow... Last night's thunderstorm did not phase the pups atall! Meanwhile our other Collies were concerned with it (yet were stoic), while the Anatolians barked at the thunder & stayed very still on the couch with each flash of lightning. On to business...we dropped off all Embark & Pawprint testing at the post office & look forward to posting the results. Of course, it requires a load of energy...but, all dogs MUST have outdoor free-time whether it is raining or not. Here on the OR coast, it will be raining for the next few months! So, with access to heavily-straw-bedded houses, we let the puppies frolic for an hour or two every 8-10 hours (otherwise, they are inside drying off for round 2, 3 or 4)...they very rarely choose to relax in a house/igloo so, here is how we manage sodden coats...1) we towel dry the pup 2) we back-brush with a high-qual pin brush (Chris Christensen)...3) we crate & dry at room temp with the Speedy Dryer.. We use the battery-charged Wahl to scoop out hair from inside the foot...carefully clipping TOWARDS the foot/toe pads...this alleviates a ton of mud & moisture on floors...yay! & we keep a gallon of Eqyss on-hand for a spray down every few days...we swear like sailors by it. Labeled for horses yes, but we love it for dogs as well. Do YOU have questions about topical dog treatments/preventions? Ask me! I had my own dog grooming business/storefront for more than a decade... The puppies are soooo fun! Growling, brawling, wrestling, eating, sleeping, absorbing...we are having the time of our lives with this brilliant litter. Bleu is our idol...immaculate & ever-regal...we are thrilled. Good Morning Folks! We hope you're enjoying the tail-end of indigenous people summer...we certainly are! We wanted to provide a brief note about the numerous applications we've received (& declined) for our Collie puppies. While we want everyone to have what they want...we've also tailored our application to achieving the lives best-suited to what we believe a dog might want. This includes, homes with children age 10 & over (if the applicant has children); soundly fenced paddocks/yards/turn-outs with really great/solid gates; we do not place puppies as service dog prospects; we do want our puppies to sleep in-home at night; & prior Collie/Sheltie experience is A MUST. Yes, that's right! Each pup is now formally named & shall soon be baptized with 2 separate DNA swabs, as we elected to procure some PRA testing as well. In addition, we purchased 2 DMS tests for Pebbles & Strider. These were acquired through Pawprint Genetics...
