Predation is such a difficult issue...particularly in the NW...I was devastated recently, to lose our older flock of chickens...& I have spent a month on the game cam attempting to ID the perp....I may never know! Minute blood on the backs of their heads, no broken bones, no feathers strewn...just a flock of dead chickens murdered sometime between 11 AM & 2 PM...all facing in one direction, as if they were fleeing someone... Weasel? Coon? Bobcat? I don't have a clue...I'm on pins & needles just having my crew of September hatch rare-breeds out & about. I have come to know that we need full-time LGDs on that end of the property. Hence, our plan to breed an Anatolian litter in the spring of 2023...If you're interested in a truly primitive & spectacular LGD from the finest bloodlines out there...please visit our Anatolian site & review our dog's testing...these are working dogs & have the aloof, problem-solving nature of serious beasts... This means that we will have 1 Collie litter next year. All AAA genetics. Back to my poultry (& Hector the Nubian king)...here they are today....
