Sacred Geometry...when structural traits become behavioural...& so on...

I located this fantabulous collection of dog skulls in an online skull collection based in Hungary. The top level exhibits a rough Collie circa 2017; the middle level exhibits a Border Collie circa 2016; & the bottom exhibit is that of a Scottish Deerhound circa 2017.

As these crania are quite modern, we have the excellent opportunity to assay our current contribution as breeders of dogs. Do we have the right to tweak the sacred geometry of any living thing?& if so, how far do we take it? To what extreme? & why? We note the occipital breadth, the length of muzzle, the array of teeth, the orbits & the ever-important jaw...designed for crushing bone & flesh...we do not want to lose the lever & contribute to permanent juvenilia...we do want glorious eyes capable of seeing potential predators threatening a flock...we do want occipital breadth which supports a powerful lower jaw, in turn availing perfect mastication & a powerful gastric system...

The questions (in bold print above) are questions (in our opinion) that any responsible/reputable/conscientious breeder must ask themselves every time they execute a breeding. For ourselves, health & temperament come first. We meld the "form follows function" concept that we've followed for decades breeding sheep & horses into our dog breeding as well...who wants a herding dog who cannot see? Has no peripheral vision potential?

My thinking is simply, that no proper breeding should follow transient trends...

As a tangent into grotesquerie...I've added their English Bulldog skull of 2017 as well.

Thanks are extended to Dr. Tibor Csorgo for the excellent work.

Tis true that the undershot jaw was developed so that the bully breeds could catch & hold whatever they were baited with...(such as a bull...another dog...etc..) so that they could hang onto it indefinitely all while breathing...but, the above is absurd & felonious on an ethical, moral & spiritual scale...really.
